Resources for Carers

Outreach in the community

Wigan & Leigh Carers Centre offers a wide range of services and support for Carers and includes an Outreach service to provide support to Carers in their own locality.

The Outreach Worker is able to:
Develop a drop in service where you can meet the Outreach Worker to discuss your caring role or simply meet up for a break and a friendly chat.
Talk to you and let you know about the services provided at the Centre.
Provide information and support for you if you live a distance away from the Centre at Hindley.
As an unpaid Carer are you getting the information and the support you need to help you in your caring role?
The outreach worker can also provide information on, how to:

  • register with your GP
  • apply for funding
  • access
  • a carers assessment
  • Carer grants
  • a free benefits check
  • free training
  • free counselling
  • aromatherapy and pamper sessions
  • local and national support groups
  • carer breaks
  • leisure
  • travel information

The outreach service delivers information events throughout the borough including coffee mornings, to reach as many carers as possible to share information and help you in your caring role. If you would like an event/activity set up in your area or if you would like to speak to someone for further information, ring 01942 705959
