Men's Social Group

 Date:  First Thursday of the Month

Time:  1.00pm-2.30pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre, 3-5 Frederick Street, Hindley

Especially for male carers in the Wigan Borough, the Carers Centre now has a Men’s Social Group that meet on the first Thursday of every month. If you are male carer why not come along to this informal get together 

for a brew and meet other carers.

Relaxation and Self-Healing Session

Dates: Tuesday February 20th


Time: 1.00pm-3.30pm


Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre


Delivered by Reiki Ray -this two hour session allows carers to take time away from their caring role and de-stress in a calming environment and includes a meditation and an empowerment called REI-JU.

This session is part of the Keeping Carers Well project and has been supported by the BIG fund from the Adactus Housing Group


Starting in March  

Hooked on Crocheting  - Tuesday 6th March

Join us for the afternoon at the centres very first Hooked on Crocheting group and then each month on the first Tuesday of every month, 1.00pm-2.30pm here at the Carers Centre. Enjoy the company of other carers who have an interest and passion for crocheting, have a brew and a chat sharing and swapping skills along the way.

* Please note: Carers must bring their own materials.

New Six Week Crochet Course starting on

Dates: Wednesday March 7th, 14th, 21st,April 4th,11th,18th

Time: 10.00am-12.00pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre

Crochet hooks will be  loaned, however carers will need to bring their own double knitting yarn.

Hooked on Crocheting Volunteer Leader

Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre is also looking for a  volunteer to lead on the group. The volunteer will be able to crochet and be passionate about crocheting. Part of the role will be to support carers if they get stuck or are a beginner and show the group new skills on some of the sessions. It is hoped that the group will support each other with skills as well.

The Reading Group is Back

Thanks to the Reader Organisation we are delighted to welcome back

The Reading Group here at the Carers Centre.

Keeping the same day as before the  group will be held each week  starting on Wednesday 10th August at 11.00am-12.30pm.

Anyone wishing to attend the group can just turn up on the day and will be made very welcome.

Social Media Support

Book a  Free one to one support session on Tuesday afternoons here at the Carers Centre with Mark which could include how to use a laptop and  an iPad.

Do you want to learn how to send emails, book things on line, how to use the internet or put your CV on the Job universal  website? Or maybe how to keep in touch with friends. This service has been extended to show carers how they can access the new Wigan Council Community Book.

Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust

NEW WLCT Lifestyle Card+1. This card allows support workers, personal assistants and carers to use the gym and pool in WLCT Leisure Centres while in their supportive role. You can apply for this by downloading the WLCT Lifestyle Plus 1 application and taking the form to any of the Leisure Centre receptions.
