New Training Programme Out for October - December 2017

The Carers Centre has a wide range of training and activities for carers that provides support for them in their caring role and/or offers carers the opportunity to take a couple of hours away for themselves. Sessions include art, mindfulness courses and the new 'Total Communication' course for carers of adults who have learning disabilities and/ or their P.A's they employ. The Carers Centre is very keen to hear any ideas or suggestions that carers have as regards to the training and activites that are delivered for carers. Caring and Coping

Date:  Wednesday October 22nd

Time:  10.00am-12.30pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre, Hindley

At times when caring for someone, a carer can experience different emotions. This session looks at those emotions along with coping strategies that carers can use and how to cope with stress more effectively.

The session is delivered vey informally with plenty of time for discussion with other carers.

 

Mindfulness Six Week Course

Date:  Tuesday November 7th,14th,21st,28th, December 5th, 12th

Time:  10.00am-12.00pm

New Venue:  As in Eden, 14 Walmesley Street, Leigh WN7 1YE

( Near Leigh Library)

Come along and learn new techniques, tools, mindfulness and meditation
practices that empower and enable you to live in the present to improve your
own health and well-being
         

This project has been supported by the BIG fund from the Adactus Housing Group

 

Stress buster Session

Introducing participants to the benefits of using simple hypnotic relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety, the causes of and how to combat stress.

Date:  Wednesday November 15th 

Time: 10.00am- 12.00pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre, Hindley

 

British Red Cross First Aid Session

Date:  Tuesday 21st November

Time:  10.00am-2.00pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre, Hindley

Would you know what to do in an emergency situation? Come along and gain practical tips to help you deal with an emergency should it arise.

 

Total Communication for carers of adults and/ or the P.As they employ 

Date:  Tuesday 28th November and Wednesday 6th December

Time:  1.00pm-4.00pm

Venue: Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre, Hindley

This course, delivered over two afternoons covers identifying and developing ways of listening and communicating with an adult who has limited speech and learning disabilities.

Learn how to engage in a person- centred way, to support anyone with limited speech and a learning disability.

Please note that this is a two part course and request that any attendees be available for both dates.

Wigan Councils Carers Training Funding

On behalf of Wigan Council, Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre are taking over the administration of the Wigan Carers Training Group Funding/ Training Request.   Click on the links to request a carers individual or group application form and guidance notes.

Closing dates for completed applications

All applications need to be submitted to Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre by 4.00pm on the closing dates below. Details of where to send your completed application can be found on the Wigan Carers Training Group/ Training Request guidelines.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome within two weeks of the closing date unless otherwise stated.

Please note: If your application needs to be sent to the Carers Board

over the Christmas period the outcome of your application could take longer due to the holiday period.
