Why I Became a Befriender by Colin Barnes
I have always been interest in people you probably could say I am a people person. I started Befriending about 18 months ago, I think I had good start because in my “Proper Job” I am a Mental Health Support worker and also work as a Bereavement Support worker.
When befriending you will meet people who are at a crossroads in their life and are desperate for company and someone to talk too.
Your main task is to listen, observe and take onboard what they are saying. Never be Judgemental .If a situation becomes out of your remit, pass it on to someone who can deal with it.
The joy you get when a client shows positive signs is what befriending is all about.
